Prof. Dario Torre

Dr. Torre is Professor of medicine and Director of Programs of Assessment at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Torre received his medical degree from the University of Rome “ La Sapienza” and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Afterwards, he completed a three-year General Internal Medicine research fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University, where he received a master’s degree in public health. He completed a doctorate in adult and continuing education with emphasis on health profession education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

He has had several leadership roles throughout the medical education continuum including Medicine Clerkship Director, Residency Program Director Vice-Chair for Education, and Director of Evaluation and Long-term outcomes for the Master and Doctoral programs in Health Profession education at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda , Maryland.

His research interests include teaching and learning with concept mapping in medical education and in clinical reasoning, programmatic assessment, and the use of learning theories to enhance educational practices. He has authored more than 100 peer reviewed publications in health profession education, more than 20 book chapters and he has been co-investigator on several educational grants. He has also won numerous local and national teaching awards. He currently serves as associate editor for Teaching and Learning in Medicine, Medical Teacher and Diagnosis.
