The summer holidays are approaching. For most, it is a period of rest and relaxation after a year of surgical endeavors. I hope all of you have a chance to forget about your duties and use this time to recharge and gather ideas for another long and intensive year of work ahead.
The editorial team of Videosurgery is not planning to slow down during this period. All submitted papers will be handled with full professionalism. We encourage you to send in original articles, reviews, or even extended case reports concerning issues in minimally invasive surgery. We aim to continue growing our scientific potential to honor the work of surgeons—especially since at the end of June we have achieved another record-breaking impact factor of 1.9 for 2024, and that is a responsibility we take seriously!
Consequently, in this edition of the journal, you will once again find a collection of fascinating articles related to the field of minimally invasive surgery. The dominant subjects in the current issue are bariatric and general surgery. For a second time in a row, we are publishing vital recommendations from a group of Polish experts—this time on the treatment of obesity. It is an update of the 2017 document, now significantly modernized, expanded, and more comprehensive. I believe it should become essential reading for every surgeon performing bariatric and metabolic procedures.
Moreover, as usual, you will find the results of intriguing clinical studies—with 3 articles reporting randomized surgical trials. There are also papers on urology, interventional radiology, and anesthesiology; I strongly encourage you to read them all.
And once again—I wish you a wonderful, sunny, and relaxing summer break!
Kindest regards
Prof. Jacek Szeliga
VSJ Editor-in-Chief
