Biorąc pod uwagę wyniki badania PINETREE, amerykański Urząd ds. Żywności i Leków (FDA) 21 stycznia 2022 roku rozszerzył możliwość stosowania remdesiwiru także w warunkach ambulatoryjnych u dorosłych i pacjentów pediatrycznych o masie ciała >3,5 kg w leczeniu COVID-19 o łagodnym lub umiarkowanym przebiegu.14
Na zakończenie warto podkreślić, że aktualnie wciąż najskuteczniejszą i podstawową metodą zapobiegania hospitalizacjom oraz zgonom z powodu COVID-19 są szczepienia ochronne uwzględniające dawkę przypominającą. 15,16
